How this compares with past elections
Turnout by district

Two days after Election Day: 69.5% in 2018, 70.7% in 2022, this year. Final: 76.2% in 2018, 71.8% in 2022.
Past years group precincts by today's districts and communities. Some precinct lines moved, mainly in Port Angeles around 2022. Details under Method.
Challenged and pending ballots
A challenged ballot has a fixable problem, usually a missing or mismatched signature. A pending ballot is still being checked.
Why ballots were challenged

Method
- Registered voters: county results page (60,299).
- Returned, accepted, pending, challenged: state ballot file, Nov 5 (41,855 records). The file's "Rejected" and "Received" statuses appear here as challenged and pending.
- Counted: ballots in the county's latest published results (). In the county's Nov 5 file, two totals differ by 2 votes between its precinct and summary sheets (District Court 1 Judge, Fire District 2); this page uses the precinct figures.
- Share of returns counted: counted ÷ returned. Two systems, two update times: a snapshot comparison, not an official tally of ballots waiting.
- Districts: county Commissioner Districts map and GIS. Communities were grouped for this page. Districts 1 and 2: inside city limits (Sequim 401–406; Port Angeles 101–105, 107) and outside. District 3: Forks and Surrounding Areas (Forks 301, Forks 302, Beaver, Bogachiel, Sun, Quileute); North Coast (Neah Bay, Clallam Bay, Joyce, Freshwater Bay, Dry Creek, Elwha, Black Diamond, Madison Creek); Western Port Angeles (Port Angeles 106, 108–113).
- Past turnout: certified November reports, 2016–2024, grouped by today's precincts. Port Angeles city precincts were redrawn around 2022, so the Western Port Angeles / Port Angeles (District 2) split isn't strictly comparable before then. Port Angeles 106 joined District 3 after 2018. 2016 registration is from that year's canvass report. In 2018 only District 3 voted for its commissioner in the general; in 2022 and 2026 the whole county did.
- Colors follow ballot order and avoid party associations.
- Privacy: the state file names voters. It was totaled by precinct first; no names, addresses or voter IDs appear here.
